installing-starting problems
« on: December 23, 2004, 11:13:27 AM »

hi guys,
I´m a new llinux suse 9.0 user and tried to make amule run on my system but without any success. right  now i´ve installed amule, wxGTK, wxBase, libgd.so.2, libwx_base, wx_devel. so i downloaded and installed all rpm from the amule download center. during the installations i got no warnings or error messages from linux at all but the amule icon does not show up in the INTERNET => MORE Programms. When I typ in "amule" in the konsole it try to start but it doesn´t. when I´m logged in as root I can see amule in INTERNET => MORE Programms but still it tries to start but no success.

typing it in the konsole leads to an error message that the GLIBC_2.3.4 is missing. I could not find this rpm anywhere.

so can anybody help with this problem ????

thx and marry christmas,
alex

at first thank you for your reply. what I did today was to download all the files listed in the "HOWTO" link and in addition to that the libgd.so.4. So I´m pretty sure that I received the right files and version. Then I downloaded amule from http://www.amule.org/download and from there I get the latest version for suse 9.0 from 12/22/04. Then I installed all the files via the YaST Pakage Installer. This worked fine without any warnings and errors at all. What happend when I start amule is unforunally the same as befor: the program tries to start up, in the control-bar  I can see the amule button but after a couple of seconds everything regarding to amule is gone, so it does not start.
Do I have to configure something manually in addition to the Installation???
regards,
Alex

....i tried those two comands but no success. I figured out that one of my HDD was defective. So I deinstalled the HDD, reinstalled Suse 9.0 from scratch and after that I installed aMule from scratch. Now it works :-)))
Thx for you help,
Alex
