Why I can`t upload nothing????
« on: February 06, 2006, 04:11:11 PM »

I have installed 3 days now aMule on my Kubuntu Breezy 64 from apt repository. It is the 2.0.3 Version.
I am using an http proxy and I have very poor performance  :(
I am sharing 23GB of files and I am trying to download 3 Big files (700MB each) with many peers sharing those files (at least 100 peers/file), but I have problem both in download and upload.
3 Days now I have only downloaded 100MB and the strange thing is that I have no upload at all (0 Bytes in 3 days always on).

Does anyone have any thoughts what might be wrong???

My problem too...

Hello all, I have a similar problem. With more than 8 hours of uptime, less than 3 megabytes of both upload and download. And the interesting thing is that I have HIGH ID (and don't use any firewall\router) for KAD and E2K networks. Now, if someone could help us both, I would be very thankful, indeed. Thank you in advance.

PS: In the log of amule, I noticed an interesting sentence:
"Conexões externas desativadas no arquivo de configuração" or in english: (my translation) "External connections disabled in the configuration file". I have already tried to change this in the file "amule.conf", but nothing happened. Thank you again.

Oh...I see now. I thought that "external connections" had to do with the kad network...Thank you. :]

There might be several reasons for this problem, but one is most likely: Your ISP does block p2p traffic completely.

You can try to change the portnumbers used by aMule, make sure you change your firewall accordingly. Are you really sure your current firewall setup actually allows traffic on the right ports?

A phone call to the helpdesk of your provider might help here as well, although it is unlikely that they will plainly say they are throttling p2p traffic. Try complaining about Skype not working, and tell the helpdesk that you set Skype on port 4663 for security reasons. (or something) They might let something slip about "change the port since this port is dangerous". Or search a bit on the usenet to see if there are other users with the same issue, perhaps with other p2p software.

Thank you for replying, your suggestion gave me some food for thought, indeed!
I have already tried to call to my ISP and asked them about the problem. The answer, surprisingly enough, was: "We have no responsibility for p2p networks". What do you think?

And after installing Windows XP today and letting my emule run for 8 hours, I noticed the same thing, no upload this time at all and less than 2Mb of downloads, with sources a plenty. I turned the firewall off, and not a thing. I will try to use the Windows version of aMule now, and change the ports numbers.
Thank you again.

PS: When I try to download a file by http or ftp, the net speed is ok.

Judging from the answer I'd say that p2p blocking is a definate option here. In that case: Sorry, but nothing you can do about this except change provider. (Which, I know, might not be an option....)

CyberAngel,

Something is definetly wrong, but I don't know how I can help you. Here are some questions you may ask yourself:

1) Are you sure that the proxy you use is working fine and is properly configured?
2) Are you sure aMule is properly configured accordingly to the type of the proxy you are using?
3) if using an HTTP proxy, are you sure this proxy supports the CONNECT method?

Good luck!

I am using this proxy with proxifier (http://www.proxifier.com) over WinXP installed on VMware and I can download from torrents using azureus without any problems....
I had also tried out emule (again over proxifier) and I had 1,5GB Upload in 12 hours so I think that the http proxy is working properly....
