aMule freezes modem
« on: August 19, 2008, 02:34:49 PM »

Hi, all!
I've been using aMule on Ubuntu machines and now on SuSe 10.2. In both cases I have this problem. My Internet provider disconnects every hour. And after my modem is freezed and I can't connect again till I reboot the machine. Neither KPPP dialer nor Xisp dialer can resolve the problem. It's strange because I couldn't find similar problem anywhere. Without aMule both KPPP and XISP dialers reconnect easily.
Are there any ideas?

stab in the dark here, might be todo with max connections,

try:
"upload limit" at 75-90% of your "real" capacity
"max connections" 200
"max new connection / 5 secs" 10
and no more then 3000 overall download sources, if more, stop downloads to get it lower then 3000

i personally use even lower settings, not because i have a crappy modem, but i think lower settings equal lower overheads, equals a more stable connection for longer.
