Banning & messages
« on: May 13, 2006, 05:55:18 PM »

Hi.

I've been experiencing some spam messages. I have two questions:

1. Does banning affect the reception of messages? Can a client that is banned still send messages to me?
2. Is there any way to manually ban a client? http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/Ban doesn't mention that, and everywhere I read the only thing I find is banlists that can be downloaded.

1. I _think_ yes.
2. No, there's no way of manual ban.
I would recommend you either to add the content (a keyword) of the spam messages to your message filter or to disable messaging at all. Imho it's useless anyway.

bice,

The feature you are probably looking for is message filtering. Go to preferences->Message filtering and set up filters for the undesirable messages. That will not ban the client, only you will not receive the messages and an entry to the aMule log will be added warning that a message has been filtered.

Cheers!
