With this new rpm I still obtain the same behaviour as with the other ones:

   mycomputer:~> amule
   Initialising aMule
Checking if there is an instance already running...
   No other instances are running.

So it's NOT working yet. I have also installed previously the following packages: lib64gd2-2.0.33-5mdv2007.0, wxGTK2.6-2.6.3-7mdv2007.0 an lib64wxgtku2.6-2.6.3-7mdv2007.0, obtained from Mandriva's mirror ftp.rediris.es.

Can you please post the ouput of:
rpm -qa | grep wx
rpm -qa | grep libwx

Just for trying to understand what seems to be the problem...

Cheers....

I need the output of:
rpm -qa | grep lib64wx
my mistake.  :P
You can try another thing remove the .aMule folder but first make a backup:
mv ~/.aMule ~/.aMule_old
then try to start aMule in a console.

Cheers....

It works!!! I had already tried to remove ~/.aMule, but without success. It seems that the solution is to start amule from a console. I always started it from an emacs shell. After starting from a console it also works from emacs. I don't understand anything... but finally works. Thank you very much for your help wardevil.
