reliably make it use all swap
« on: July 10, 2006, 10:13:01 PM »

Hello,

I can reliably make AMule 2.1.3 use up all swap space (and then be killed on my machine.
Is this a known bug / problem?
Details of system:
tingo@kg-quiet$ uname -a
FreeBSD kg-quiet.kg4.no 6.1-STABLE FreeBSD 6.1-STABLE #5: Wed May 10 01:07:01 CEST 2006     root@kg-quiet.kg4.no:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/QUIET  amd64
tingo@kg-quiet$ swapinfo
Device          1K-blocks     Used    Avail Capacity
/dev/ad0s1b        888360   219548   668812    25%
tingo@kg-quiet$ portversion -v | grep aMule
aMule-2.1.3                 =  up-to-date with port

How-To repeat:
1) start download of a file with "funny charcters" in the filename. Example: the character
that looks like clubs on a deck of cards
2) on the 'transfers' screen, right click on the filename, and select "show file details"
3) watch as swap space usage increases, until aMule is killed by the system

I believe this bug / problem was also present in older versions.
If you want me to test anything, I'm game.
