CVS 2008-02-10 -> Problem with UL, DL, GUI, CPU load
« on: February 13, 2008, 03:28:39 PM »

Hello to the board.

I have a strange behavior of aMule CVS 20080210, may be someone can help to solve this:

Platform is openSUSE 10.3, 32bit, Dualcore, bigsmp, wlan, 4Gb ram, ADSL Annex"A" 750k
aMule has
~ 30 files in active download and
~400 files paused in 7 category tabs (with no downloaded content).
Hard limit 100
max. Connections 200
obfuscation: off

After installation of  CVS20080210 from 20070927 (by PackMan) the rehashing was done,
with the result of  the total 370 files in shared files, although the 20 active files should only be there
in the shared files. This is normalized to the expected 20 files after a new start.

NO problem with: Connecting, searching, KAD, High ID,  Preview, as long as just connected.

BIG problem with starting aMule, downlad speed AND upload speed:
After starting aMule it takes about 3 to 5 minutes until the GUI is accessible.
After connecting to a server, everything seems to be as usual, but then after 3 to 5 minutes:
- upload speed deviates from expected limit of 12k between 0 and unrealistic 55k (the ADSL line can only handle about 20k up)
- download speed deviates from expected 40k between (mostly) 0 and more than 200k
- the transferred data is near zero
- GUI is blocked and some times reacts only for few seconds
- CPU load is about 90% to 100%

Has someone an idea what is wrong?

Ciao

I have exactly the same problem, but with the 2.2.1 release
altough i have roughly 2000 files queued, unsorted

also, CPU usage seems to like to "float" from core to core, so only 1 core is actually utilized at a time, which, after a few seconds,
just entirely moves to the other core and the CPU usage skyrockets again
(i have an AMD X2 4800+, gentoo ~amd64 2008.0 install)

not even emule with Xtreme (wine) didn't have this much of CPU usage
