Efficiency versus number of DLs
« on: December 11, 2009, 04:53:00 PM »

Hi -

I am new, but really like this program. I started with 2.2.5 but now use 2.2.6 on iMac and OS X 10.6.2. I have had no problems with either.

I have a newbie question (I searched a bit but don't even know what a good search term would be). The question is: are there efficiencies for having fewer DLs scheduled at any one time? Example - for a series of three TV programs, each with four episodes, would it be more efficient to DL four episodes in one group rather than all 12 at one time? I guess this relates to possible limits on quantity DLed per file versus number of concurrent files.

Thanks!

Depends. If you want to start watching the first episodes in some time, this will happen sooner if you don't start everything at once, because in the case of related files it's often the same people who share all of them. Otherwise just start everything, within reason. You shouldn't have more than about 200 downloads at a time, depending on the speed of your computer. Also you need to have the disc space of course.
