800x600
« on: October 04, 2005, 07:02:52 PM »

I'm not sure this technically qualifies as a bug, but because it impacts the usability of aMule for me a great deal, I've decided to put it here anyway.
Since a couple of weeks, I've started using a "Linux Media Center PC" that, because of the fairly old GeForce 2MX card, is limited to a resolution of 800x600. In some cases, aMule is able to deal with that, but usually it looks something like attached screenshot.
Note the incredibly bloated status bar.

And yes, I have to use a font that big.

Oops, sorry for not blurring thar myself, I should have known better.

You could try some workarounds:
- Reduce the font size of your GTK theme (that's done by adding a line to ~/.gtkrc file, or something like that)
- Configure your XServer better (I have an older nvidia TNT2 Card which do happily 1280x1024 @ 16bpp, so the problem is not your video card, is your configuration)
- Use amuled and amuleweb

Regards.

Use current aMule CVS.

skolnick: Thank you for your reply, but I'm not using this resolution and font size for nothing; obviously by "Media Center" I meant that the box is hooked up to the TV. nVidia's older GeForces do not support a resolution higher than 800x600 on SVHS, and the font wouldn't be readable on my slightly blurry TV either.

Kry: Awesome! I will be on CVS soon. Will there be a "2.0.4" release with this fix?

Hmmm...too bad about the resolution. It's not good to have only 800x600 out of the SVHS port (anyway, TVs probably do not support more).

Regards.
