Which system are you running (win, lin, mac)?
Do you have a router/firewall?

Hmm.
I am not really sure what is the main cause of the problem.

i went to adjust the "settings" and
also deleted some file in my Incoming folder.
Restarted my PC many times.

And all of a sudden, it is able to connect again.

But now, horribly slow.
Is there a page in here that teaches you how to set your amule
by to a default "settings".

OS:RH9
Amule.1.2.6 :baby:

1.2.6?!?!?

That's ancient and there are many bugs which have been fixed since then.  Upgrade to a newer version.

It seems like noone created a RPM for your sys, so you gotta compile amule.
Take a look at http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/HowTo_Compile_In_RedHat-Fedora for help and ask if you've further questions.
I would guess, that you don't need to uninstall, but if you had a RPM you should be able to this in Red Hats package manager.
