Shares problem
« on: September 26, 2005, 07:23:30 PM »

Well, I think this is, perhaps, a frequent problem, but I couldn't find much about it on the FAQs, so... well, the thing is, like, I've got my shares folder on a FAT32 partition. When I first compiled aMule it seemed to work fine -- but after a while, it displayed

Code: [Select]
2005-09-26 16:49:00: Hi ha hagut un Error! Intentant compartir /mnt/sputnik/Descàrregues
2005-09-26 16:49:00: Hi ha hagut un Error! Intentant compartir /mnt/sputnik/Descàrregues

which is Catalan for "There has been an error trying to share /mnt/sputnik/Descàrregues". Now, it won't load my shares at all. I'm not to fond of leeching, you see, so, I'd like to fix this! Perhaps it has to do with the fact that it's a FAT32 partition? It did work at first! And, moreover, my download folder is also in said partition and downloads seem to work just fine, so I don't know what it could be, actually. I'm using aMule 2.0.2 and Ubuntu Hoary (i386) -- aMule 2.0.3 wouldn't compile because of dependence problems. The changelog said nothing about this, so I guess it's not a matter of versions...

Oh, well. Hope this doesn't bother you much. Ta very much!

hey

maybe something remounted the share as ro instead of rw...

when this error happens, check teh permissions of the folder and the files...
ls -la

and see what you come up with,
dmesg or /var/log/messages

should have some infos aswell....

if you get this error not while running, and instead already at amule start, try to remount your partition again

It is very weird! Because I can actually write to the partition, and I do have permissions to read it -- as I have said, the first time I ran aMule it did work, for a while... this is very strange... :(
But thanks anyway!! :)

change all non-standard characters from the path (á change it to a, idem for ä and â)
