amule 2.0.0 givin low ID

Hello there. I just installed amule, and everything worked out fine.. i updated the server list and connected to one. I was able to search for data, but he didt download.
so i found out that i had a low ID.
So i turned off my fire wall  and checked the preferences in amule as described in the help wiki.
but it still doesnt give a high ID. I also tried to change the port to 25600. but still gave me low iD. Iam using Mac oSX and iam connecting to the internet through the line of the student home i live in. Could it be that it is restricted?? but then why can i download with limewire?? please help me i am quite desperate to use amule..  :)

PS: thats the error when i test the port:
rror: TCP port 4662 is unavailable. Make sure your firewall or router is allowing/forwarding this TCP service port and your ED2K client is running (i.e. aMule, eMule).
Detailed Error Message
TCP Error 111 Connection refused

Explanation
The port is available for connections but a connection was refused meaning there is nothing listening on that port. This most likely means you can use ED2K but your client is not currently running. Try running this test again with an ED2K client running to make sure you can really establish a connection. No info available; this TCP error probably indicates a problem with the networking on your system (i.e. the TCP/IP stack).

Most of the Universities restrict the usage of P2P software inside their networks, so your Uni's LAN could be blocking the ports or even worst, blocking by using a layer-7 packet inspector.

Hello, thx for your post, but why ist ist then that with lime wire everything works fine??
anybody got an explanation?? or do I have to change something in my system prefereces??

They might just filter the p2p-systems that consume the most bandwidth in their network. The university of a friend of mine, for instance, only blocks edonkey and direct connect traffic.

If you are lucky they only block the default ports. In this case you can just change amule's ports in the preferences. You might want to temporarily disable your firewall (in the System Preferences if you are using the built-in one), just to make sure that your packets don't get blocked at that level.
If they filter by packet content there's not much you can do.
