Hello everyone, I am having this problem on this eMac: can't connect form this computer.

On the same network, with a router, I have an iBook that works fine, but with OS 10.4 (the eMac has 10.3)

You first need to download a valid server list. To do that. click on the little icon that's shaped like a play button next to the url of the serverlist. Then you can click "connect".

Also:
You have a highID with aMule on your iBook, right? That would mean that you have forwarded the ports  that that aMule install uses to the iBook (you were probably just using aMule's default ports).

Now you want to run aMule also on your eMac, but the problem is, you can't make your router forward the same ports to different machines. So what you need to do now, is to change aMule's ports in the preferences (in preferences->connections) to other numbers than 4662 tcp, 4666 udp, and 4665 udp2 (this number is determined by the first number +3) and then forward those ports in your router to your eMac.

OK, I will try that

I don't know, I just run the installer, and on the router, I have never forwated any ports. I just leave everything as it comes.

OK, I will try to do that, but as I said before, I have never forwated the ports on my router. Just double click, and everything goes right.

Thaks for your help lionel 77. I will keep you inform.

Well, if you have not forwarded the ports in your router then you are lowID, which means that your downloads will not be as fast as they could be. So I would take a shot at forwarding the ports in your router.

Lionel, I have done this:
"You first need to download a valid server list. To do that. click on the little icon that's shaped like a play button next to the url of the serverlist. Then you can click "connect"."

And is working fine.

But, if you think that forwarding the ports will make things go faster (up and down), could you give me a hand?

I have a D-Link DI-704P router, but I have never, ever used the Admin features, and the firewall an everything that could have inside the little box.

It just works, and as some people says, "If it is't broken... don't fix it!!", but I think is time to learn something new.

How could I do that, the forwatting I mean. I have this windows, is there the solution?

Thaks a lot,

Pablo

*shamelessly posting standard port forwarding reply*

You need to forward the ports that aMule uses in your router. Take a look at http://portforward.com/routers.htm, that page has detailed step-by-step instructions for pretty much every router on the market.

aMule uses three ports (see Preferences->Connection) that need to be forwarded:
  • a client TCP port
  • a client UDP port (this is the above port +3)
  • and an eMule extended UDP port
You can use the connection tester to check whether the client TCP port is forwarded properly.

Good luck. :)
