ED2k over Kad?
« on: June 30, 2007, 05:00:56 PM »

Well I am thinking about dropping the central servers and go pure kad. Just want to know how many users here support and use pure kad over ed2k or both. Depending on the pole I might go pure kad even if its not supported by users LOL.

KAD-only works, but above all for a quick search I prefer server (local).

In addition to wuischkes point, I have some files here with just ed2k sources. With kad-only I wouldn't get that file.

Well I myself is connected to both. Now I have 3 local servers DonkeyServer 1-3 and about 765 nodes connected on Kad. From my stats total user on ED2K is 1.59mil and on Kad is 2.69mil sharing 233.64mil files on ED2k and sharing 542.24mil files on Kad. So looks like to me Kad has more user and sharing more files. I just move where there is max number of users.

1.59 + 2.69 ~ 3.5 (respecting some doubles like me) when you connect to both. I think that is the most.

Well node on kads not always stable always changing but I have seen over 3mil+ users and sharing over 700mill+ files max. Diff on Kad vs ED2k is the overhead traffic. Now I can careless I don't download but soon as I connect to any server/node I always get 4-5 uploads under 10sec.

Sure, but assuming that only one user uses pure kad, and one user uses pure ed2k, you can only get the real maximum if you use both.

HyperNode, frankly and nicely put: Your English is more of a challenge to understand. Again, you are insulting someone and this time Vollstrecker did not insult you.

You can discuss things here, but be nice and polite and do NOT insult others personally.

Besides you are discussing about a topic not related this thread. Feel free to discuss this in another thread, but stop it here.
I personally doubt that a/eMule will get such a credit system, but have fun reading about Applejuice. (To cut it short: It worked only thanks to its closed source nature and even then it was cracked and leeched.)

I understand that but I don't see where he is getting it when I have yet to say that to him. But I know as I said before ED2K will not have this system cuz they have no idea how to do it or afraid of change. This will speed up the network and actually make it better. Now this has NTOHING to do with applejuice. This can be cracked? LOL this is secure as standard crypto for user id. I don't think any of you users have any idea what I am talking about how do you think torrent and other p2p or shc on web have scoring system? Its not slow based on ed2k's.
