if it appears wherever amule is started, it most surely won't be an aMule issue. Make this check: go into some directory where you have no _directory_ write permissions with the user you're logged in. Then wait until aMule crashes (try it few times, as much as you think is enough, that is, as much as you think that strange file should have been created). If the file is still created in that directory, then its definitly not an aMule issue.
Please, make sure that directory you choose to test is in an ext2 or ext3 partition.
If the file is created, please post here the output of both `ls -ld ./`and `ls -l ./`(both executed from the directory from where you launched aMule).
