stopping amuled crashes Linux
« on: March 02, 2006, 04:33:12 PM »

Kernel 2.6.5-7.252-smp

When stopping amuled with "killall --quiet /usr/local/amuled" the linux hang just after closing the UDP sockets.
Same behaviour with "shutdown" in amulecmd.

Any clues ?

Impossible ... I'm using commercial products (no src) that rely on this kernel ...

I'll give a try to the last CVS of aMule.

I always have to explain this issue carefuly:

The kernel is above aMule. aMule can't crash kernel. If kernel crashes, aMule is not the culprit: it's the kernel. As an app should NEVER be able to crash a kernel. Hence, change kernel (and If you can't, well, pester whoever builds them ;))

Mind you, I'm not being rude or anything - it's just aMule is doing nothing wrong so we can't fix something that doesn't exist ;)

Hello,
Sorry for my english, ok with you. On mac 10.4.5 i have every time, crash or kernel panic (you known the black screen?). So i'm just a user; not informatician, but the system crash only with amule. And the new system amule 2.1.1 changes nothing! There is a problem between amule and kernel.
Best regards
For your information this is the rapport type i have when it crash:

amuled 2.1.1 sometimes triggers an oops in openslug 2.7, which runs linux 2.6.12.2.
Solution: upgrade kernel.
If something done by any user program crashes the kernel, is a kernel bug.
