CECSocket error: Input/Output error
« on: June 29, 2006, 09:30:11 PM »

Hi,

A weird error started appearing last week, the deamon (amuled) is running ok, downloading and uploading.

But when I try do connect using amulecmd or amulegui, this error shows up:
host:~$ amulecmd
This is amulecmd CVS Wed Jun 28 07:01:33 CEST 2006

Creating client...
CECSocket error: Input/Output error
Connection Failed. Unable to connect to the specified host

I checked a couple of parameters in ~/.aMule/amule.conf and it seems ok.

What can be happening? (I don't really know if it is the password that is wrong)

Thanks!
Eduardo

By the way, I'm using the repository in vollstreckernet ("deb http://vollstreckernet.de/debian testing amule" in my sources.list) and it seems to be out today, anyone knows what's up?

Thanks!

I dont...

anyway there error is that in your remote.conf there is no password set for EC

so either delete the remote.conf and simple type teh password again while starting amulecmd, or setup a new remote.conf file with the EC password from teh amule.conf file

btw your remote.conf looks like a amule.conf file maybe delete it and create a new one, this is the only options I got..

Code: [Select]
$ cat .aMule/remote.conf
Locale=
[EC]
Host=localhost
Port=4712
Password=e22a63fb76874c99488435f26b117e37

stefanero, look carefully. He has password for EC set up properly in his remote.conf.

That's because of remote gui stores a lot of irrelevant keys. Once it has to be cleaned up.

Btw, stefanero, you use the same password for EC and webserver login?

@gonszo yes I do.. why?

i just checked in the middle of his remote.conf file and it was not there...but I did not see the place in hte beginning of hte file, my bad

@xundas can you try a "telnet localhost 4712" and see if that works when amuled is running?

I rechecked the passwords and they seems to be OK (I recreated them with 'echo 'blabla' | md5sum') is that right?

The problem persists...

About the telnet test, I'm not sure what to expect as return, but here's what I get:

Code: [Select]
host:/$ telnet localhost 4712
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.localdomain.
Escape character is '^]'.

And I'm sure that amuled is working (ie downloading and uploading) because I can see traffic in the bandwidth monitor.
I also know that the port is open (and the service responding)

Code: [Select]
host:/$ nmap localhost -p 4712
Interesting ports on localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1):
PORT     STATE SERVICE
4712/tcp open  unknown

And it seems strange that I see no one else having this problem, because I thought it was happening to the CVS release (development software has its drawbacks).

Is there a way I can get a CVS release from last week? (I prefer .debs but if a tarball is available I can compile it and test)

Thanks again folks!!

Fixed.

The tarball from hirnriss.net (aMule-CVS-20060629.tar.bz2) worked perfectly.

The strange thing is that it is the same version than the one in the repository I was using...

Maybe there was something cripled in my previous installation. Maybe during the weekend I'll uninstall the compiled version and run a repository version again and see if it back to work..

Well, thanks again guys!
