Starting next file when file completed
« on: December 02, 2004, 09:23:41 PM »

I just found I checked the option "Start next paused file when a file completed". Nevertheless, I had _stopped_ (not paused) all but some small files in my list because I'm almost running out of space and one of the _stopped_ files would be resumed whenever a download finished. Wouldn't it be better to just resume paused files and leave stopped files alone?

maybe it is like u say in 2.0 rc7 .. as we don't work on 1.2.x versions anymore you should update your amule to the latest release (rc7 atm) and test ;)

its stable for linux, testing on mac

no, it's still that way in v2-rcX iirc.

Now, the thing is: what's the difference between stopping and pausing?
the only difference is that when stoping, sopurces are dropped, whne pausing, they aren't.

So, I see no reason for haveing aMule behave on the way "only resume paused files".

Mine is just a presonal opinion but well...

Greetings!

Actually, I didn't realize what the difference is before. The text of the option "Start next paused file when a file completed" raises certain expectations, though. And there may be times, as in my case, where it does make sense to not resume another file.
Currently, I've just about 500MB left on the device I download to. That's enough to finish one or two big files that are almost done and squeeze in some smaller ones, but if another big one is resumed every time a small download is finished, I end up with countless "Error: cannot write to disk" messages.

1.2.6 is the version currently packaged for Debian...

pi-c you mean debian woodt i guess. I'm on sarge and I have rc7 here ;)

about the paused/stopped resume stuff. you're right. the text is amboguous and there might be chances that someone might only want to resume paused files. I'll take a look at it, don't worry. anyway, that ill be after rc8 ;)

Greetigns!
