Users and available files
« on: August 27, 2005, 12:49:42 AM »

Hi folks !

I don't know if it is kind of a problem or a bad configuration. I've installed with no problem aMule 2.0.3 on a Debian distribution with kernel 2.6.10.

When I statr the application everything seems to be alright, but when I look for files, though they appear with hundreds of sources, when I select them to download my aMule client only sets a few of them (normally less than 20).

After checking once and again my preferences settings, I think all is fine, but the point which called my attention was that in the lower part of the window it's shown that there are about 31000 users connected, sharing 3 million files with a total data size about 900MB. If I connect with a eMule client from a WinXP PC millions of users appear with many GB's of shared data.

Do you have any idea about this? It looks as if my client only could connect with clients of the server it's logged in.

Thanks for your help.

What server are you connected to?  Recently, there has been a surge of fake servers on the network.  Avoid any of the "Sonny Boy" servers like the plague, for example.

If you're connected to a real server, then just wait a bit.  aMule will gradually learn about other sources from the sources you do have, and by occasionally polling the servers in your server list.

problem with sources

I have the same version of aMule running under Debian. I connect to Razorback 2. I noticed that when I just add files to download, aMule often shows 0 (0) sources for the added downloads so that the downloads do not start. However, in the search window or in Razorback's stistics page I see that there ARE sources. If I close aMule and open it again aMule immediately finds the sources, i.e. it shows >0 count. I think it is a bug.

Hi again,

I'm connecting to eD2K mania. In these moments I have:
Users:34K (10,43M)
Files: 3,80M (915,24M)

I have the same results after restarting aMule.

This is the server info (Is this a fake server? What other servers are real"?):

**************************************************************************
server version 17.6 (lugdunum)

Thanks, folks.

I don't know if that server is real.  I don't have it in my server list, so I suspect it's fake.  Why don't you just try a different one and see if you get better results?  Like, for instance, the server that your eMule client is connecting to in Windows.

s_i_m, that's a different problem.  There's another thread about that.
