For me reconnecting to another server does the trick. But in the version 2.0.1 I didn't have this problem...

Ok, so 2.0.1 worked. Do you know if it worked in 2.0.2 or was it there it first broke?

Hi again,

I tried CVS 20050720 and the problem is still there, i added a file via a ed2k link last night and now (more than 14 hours later) still got no sources at all (0/0).

And also, ive noticed a few glitches in this CVS:

1.- If i add a file im already donwloading or that i already have, amule doesnt mention it as it used to, im talking about that message  you could see on the botton left side of amule or in the amule log at the severs tab: "You already have the file..." or "You are already trying to download the file..." (or s/t similar).  Now it doesnt do/say anything and seems like the 'add ed2k link' function doesnt work (same thing if i click on a link in firefox).

2.- I wanted to try to connect to another server and see if that fixed the sources problem in this CVS, so I clicked on 'Disconnect' and then on 'Connect' but the button doesnt do anything, it wouldn't try to connect again or do anything at all, the only way i could connect again to a server was by double clicking on one on the servers list ... and ... back to the no sources problem now ... changing server did get sources for my manually added files this time!! (let me remid you 2.0.3 didnt use to do that for me)...

So after all the hassle at least ive seen some improvements to my situation :-P .

Edit: BTW the increase of connections from 600 to 650 didnt do  anything.

Glad I'm not the only one with the problem. I do not use ed2k links, so I also get the problem using the normal search facility. (Almost?) all new downloads don't get off the ground until aMule is restarted.
Sorry I can't be more specific, I haven't really made enough observations or seen any pattern to say much more. Last version I've been using was rc7 or something similarily old, so that doesn't help much either.

Well, in Windows, i got 800 max connections and everything works fine. In linux i noticed that all those connections were useless [with my provider], getting that value around 400/450 keeps my amule really stable and reactive; with 800 connections my download/upload suck [really few clients on queue and a lot of bandwidth wasted ... check overhead]

i don't know if some conf's settings are involved [ie: iptables, private-ip]

Im afraid this is not entirely true for what ive seen lately. Im sure it did work once, but i added files afterwards and the change of server didnt do the trick, this is so weird, things sometimes work and sometimes dont!  :(

Binaries for Debian Sarge
« Reply #23 on: July 23, 2005, 11:07:12 AM »

Hi,

I'm using Debian Sarge myself and binaries from here :

deb http://dude.gemil.de/ debian/

It works for me.

Maybe you can try those .deb

Or you can also download them from the ed2k network :

ed2k://|file|aMule-2.0.3-Monolithique+daemon-Debian_Sarge-Pack_with_wxGTK-2.6.1-i386.deb.tar|5632000|E37C5266D74ED45D4B817A3C513AC438|/

Regards

I can confirm this bug. Im also using Debian Sarge and Binaries from http://dude.gemil.de/ debian/. (aMule 2.0.3).
When adding new Files from the search window aMule doesn't try to find sources for it.
If i connect to another server however it starts downloading.
I guess it only searches for peers on the connected Server and not on the other servers in the list. Maybe someone could try to confirm this.

Same question for you, dastan, how long did you wait? Depending on the number of downloads it might take some time for amule to get sources from the server it is currently connected to...

I have waited for at least 3 hours. It didnt find any sources (and there were many).
Setting the priortity to high doesn't change anything. It gets set to high automatically when i start the download anyways.

OK, after some more observations I'm pretty sure that only specific files cause this behaviour, some other downloads work fine from the get go.

This seems to be reproducible here: I added the file "(c) - not allowed in here" to my downloads. In the search it had 58 complete sources (I did verify it again using the stated ed2k URL, so both search and ed2k has the same problem). After 6 hours on priority high it still had not found a single source.

The system had about 100 open TCP connection at that time, so this should not be a limiting factor.

A change of server did not help.

After restarting aMule it found 8 sources within 10 seconds, download started within a minute.

I hope somebody can reproduce it using above URL.
