i am running amuler 2.1.3 on an apple mac g5 with osx 10.4.8. my isp is a local company using an alvarion wireless network, meaning i have external antenna wich is connected to an indoor unit wich then connects to my mac via my internal ethernet port. i don't have a router, but i opened my ethernetport 2 to share my connection with a laptop using windows xp running emule, dont know which version though.anyway, i disconnected that machine and it does not make any difference at all.
i am running netbarrier x4 allowing traffic on ports 4662, 4665, 4668, 4672, 28765, 80 and 23 (the results of desperate attempts to get high id). i also generally allowed amule outgoing connections. however i have disabled firewall altogether, with and without restarting my whole system, checked various forums on the topic but all i found were topics relating to routers.
interesting here is that my firewalls log lists a number of outgoing connections on port 4662 and other conducted by amule...?

and so on. quite a bit of traffic..
now i checked my isp's website and i found 2 statements re internet use and p2p:
1.
" What ports is Fastcom blocking ?
For security purposes, Fastcom have blocked traffic on the following ports:
TCP/UDP 135
TCP/UDP 137, 138 and 139
TCP/UDP 445
TCP 593
UDP 1434
TCP 1433
TCP lpd
These ports are known to be used by a various viruses. e.g. port 1433 is used by the Slammer virus. "
2.
"Are there restrictions or limits ?
There are no unusual restrictions imposed apart from the normal terms and conditions associated with any internet connection. Please review the subscriber agreement for full details. Fastcom Broadband do reserve the right to treat certain types of traffic with lower priority on the network to ensure the majority of users enjoy the best available speeds as far as possible. Such lower priority traffic may include file-sharing applications such as Kazaa, Morpheus, and similar for example. "
furthermore i have conducted the tcp port test with the following result:
"Error: TCP port 4662 is unavailable. Make sure your firewall or router is allowing/forwarding this TCP service port and your ED2K client is running (i.e. aMule, eMule).
Detailed Error Message
TCP Error 111 Connection refused
Explanation
The port is available for connections but a connection was refused meaning there is nothing listening on that port. This most likely means you can use ED2K but your client is not currently running. Try running this test again with an ED2K client running to make sure you can really establish a connection. No info available; this TCP error probably indicates a problem with the networking on your system (i.e. the TCP/IP stack)."
finally, the kad info section in amule tells me that it is not running because it is firewalled.
i am at my wits end and now i am putting my hope into this forum.
by the way, for any irish user: i am in sligo and my isp is fastcom.please don't let me if you are out there and have a solution for my problem.
