the download does not start
« on: August 28, 2006, 06:20:48 AM »

Hi I don't kown much about Amule, just to say that actually I don't know anything about it.
The thing is that I'm connected and I'am able to find the things I'm looking for pour it does not start. When I go to the transfert window, the things I want to download are there, it says I got some sources, but the download does not start. It always stays on waithing, do somebod know what is my problem, beside not knowing the programm??
thanks

Since most ed2k clients are queue based, your download usually doesn't begin right after adding a file to aMule. You first need to make your way to the beginning of the queues of the other clients that have parts of the file you are trying to download. That's why it's best to run aMule at least for 8h straight. You'll notice that your download speeds will improve once aMule has run for a few hours. Ideally, you run aMule 24/7. See also aMule is slow.

Btw, you can actually track your progress in other peoples queues by double-clicking one of you downloads. You will then see all the clients that are sharing that file. In the 'Priority' column you will see for each client something like "QR: 571", which means you are number 571 in line. Once that number reaches 0, your download will start from that client.
