GUI stuff
« on: February 21, 2005, 08:05:54 PM »

hi,

some requests/suggestions. most probably only apply to Mac OSX, so i post it here.

Donwload list > a file > Show file details:
- pls increase size of file name list. 4 lines seems minimum for a complete&usable scroll bar.
- pls allow resizing and resize the file name list to fit. Many times file names are just too long.
- pls change default ordering to: Sources, reverse ordering. Would be fine too. Saves me a click each time.  :D

Mouse scrollwheel support would be fine. s/o said it worked meanwhile, but it never worked for me.

Some other thing I noticed :
- When removing files from the shared folders, they don't remove themeselves from aMule and people are still making queue for them.
- Mousewheel doesn't work either for me. It used to with the last downloaded binary (something like two month old, I can check which one) Also I have another button I used to use for double clicks that doesn't works anymore.
- To be able to click twice on a button I have to wait something like 1 full second between the two clicks, but maybe there is an option somewhere for that I have not seen.
- I cannot select friends in the friends pannel  (to remove them for instance) without starting a chat windows.
- In the download window, the color line for some clients with the grey :( face is not present. Is that normal ? I thought it might be all white instead.

Ah, I'm using the last binary of lionel77

Thanks for making aMule,

C.

IMHO it work like this for the first time only. i.e. after someone made a request, but file not found it's removed from shared files.

double clicking: even worse, left-click (to select) + right-click (for popup) results in a double click. at least this is really annoying.

select peer in friends panel: happened to me too, though i just thought, i had clicked too uncontrolled. ;)

"grey faces": unhandy is, that they are sorted at top, even if  ordering is "progress: many -> none"

hi,
some more notes: (old notes still all apply)

CVS 20050228: text in aMule log scrollview is now displaced horizontally. (start of lines beyond window) see attachment.
EDIT: this view is also redrawn errornously if other tabs are in front, e.g. search tab or Shared files.

clicking in the full size/custom size window button (green "+" button) does not move the window to the top left screen position until you resized the window at least once. actually it is a little bit weird to which position it goes back when clicking on this button. it seems to go back to an arbitrary previous "non-fullscreen" size&position, even if currently "non-fullscreen". This is not what i would expect: if clicked when "non-fullscreen" it has to go "fullscreen", if clicked when "fullscreen" it has to go to the last "non-fullscreen" size&position.

The "Clients on Queue" textview is not resized when required but only resized when resizing the window.

no. no.

i dl'ed Lionell77's  app & thought a matching wxMac is included. wasn't it mentioned that way? the binary is fat enough in any case. besides that i dl'ed and updated wxMac source from cvs over the last days and it never compiled. That's anoying because this takes ? 30 min each time. (if it compiles, which i haven't seen lately, erm, actually, never. only some old cvs snapshots compiled once.) X(

can you name a wxMac cvs snapshot which compiled on Mac?

I've had several problems recently with wxMac-cvs.  GUI problems, crash on quit, and finally compilation problems.  I got fed up and backed up to the tagged wxMac 2.5.4 release.  It's better.

It seems that once they got 2.5.4 out the door, the wx devs went hog-wild with careless mods to the source.  I'm staying at 2.5.4 for a while and not grabbing the latest cvs until it settles down some.

this is definitely a wxMac issue -- i compiled same amule sources with older wx and the problem was gone.
typically issues like these appear in wx and then they are gone after a few days.

EDIT: didn't refresh this so i didn't see ken's post. i think i will use official 2.5.4 then for the new speedy version of amule...

Works for some people, not for others, wxMac issue?

Made them wrap and that's all. No more horizontal scrollbar. so as far as I'm concerned, fixed.

currently (cvs-2005-03-16 lionell's) the "aMule Log" is the only view where the mouse scroll wheel works for me. And the first time that i see it working anywhere for me. ;)
