Stuffit: Error # 37
« on: June 15, 2006, 02:49:02 AM »

I can't get the aMule-2.1.3-Mac_UniversalBinary_TigerOnly(2).zip file to open using Stuffit.  It goes through the process then halts at the end reporting it was unable to extract citing Error #37.  I need to know why this is happening and why don't you archive it in dmg instead of zip?

I *was* able to unzip amule 2.10.0 rev 6531 on a friend's Windows machine and install from CD.  On my MacBook it connects but I can't seem to download any selected or found files.  It stays open and runs tho', whereas,

On my Intel iMac the program opens and allows me to download the server list and connect but soon after it folds right up and closes.  This happens repeatedly which led me to the above, downloading the v2.1.3 Mac UB version from a different location.  Still I get the "error # 37" when trying to unzip it.  Can someone unzip and bundle up as a dmg file and send to me (I'll provide an email address, just holler) or make available somewhere?  That would be helpful!

Both machines are running OSX 10.4.6.

I tried running it from the Terminal and this is what is reported:

The problem is that StuffIt (and in particular older versions of it) is not the best choice for handling zip files on the Mac. What you want to do is to unzip the archive using the zip engine that is built-in in OS X: Right-click (or control-click if you only have a one button mouse) the aMule zip archive and choose "Open with->BOMArchiveHelper". The resulting aMule app should run fine on your machine.

If you want to permanently associate zip files with the built-in engine instead of StuffIt, do a "Get Info" on a zip file and choose "BOMArchiveHelper" in the "Open with"  section. Then click the "Change all" button.

Hope this helps. :)
