Locking currently downloading files
« on: February 17, 2004, 08:08:50 AM »

Is it possible to let amule mark files that are currently being downloaded as locked/friends only?  On occasion I would like to prevent people from downloading anything until I have downloaded it myself and verified the accuracy of the description.  Until then they are just wasting my outgoing bandwidth.

I don't know if this is possible within ed2k protocol but I would like to know if there is a good reason for not allowing it if it is possible.

Well. Of course you're right, but...uploading parts while the file has not completely been downloaded has always been one of the best features in ed2k protocol. It assures that files are spread MUCH faster because you don't have to wait for the whole file to finish before you can upload.

If you have problems with fake files, there are some projects out there which could help you, for example the ed2k-search-engine jigle.com...there r also some programs for fake checks, but for windows  X(

My point was that it should be a possibility for the user to lock a file while downloading if he wants to, not that uploading while downloading should be disabled entirely.
