"smart" rename for downloads
« on: September 23, 2006, 09:11:11 PM »

If you download a file and change its name manually (i.e. because it is the one file out of a series of files where the name does not match the pattern and there is nobody sharing the file with the "right" name) you have to remember to press the "Rename" button before you hit Enter or press the "Close" Button.

Also: even when you select a predefined filename from the list and press "Takeover" you still have to press "Rename" and then "Close". That's a bit too much for me. If i select a filename from a list i expect the "Takeover" and "Rename" actions. If i made a mistake there is still the "Cancel" button, or at least there should be or could be...

That whole behaviour is - to me - highly unintuitive and errorprone. I usually have to do it twice because i don't remember that amule likes special treatment in that respect. It is a small thing (check if the textfield has changed, get rid of a two buttons for sensible defaults) but it might be a good thing...

quakemire,

I totally agree with you, so I did an Apply, Ok, Cancel interface, that is currently on cvs code. Please test it, and share your thought with us here.

Cheers!
