I think we should really disable posting to this subforum without registration. The main idea was that people could post here if they had problems registering, but I just went through the last 115 threads in this forum and there was not a single user with that problem. In those rare cases where someone really has problems with the forum registration we should just encourage the use of email.

Not-requiring registration here, creates imho *far* more headaches that it solves. I think most people are posting their problems here in this subforum simply because they can, even though they know that they should not, simply because it is more convenient.

For us answering support requests here, these unregistered posts create additional headaches. First, we need to move all the threads to their proper places so that the forum help section is not a complete mess. Second, helping those people is actually more difficult, b/c you can't just drop them a quick pm if needed.

The problem is when you guys move the threads. I do NOT move the threads, and I do NOT give support.

Problem is, if you don't do some cleaning up, then this subforum turns into a huge mess and the ontopic threads become covered under a pile of poorly worded support requests.

As I wrote earlier, there are effectively NO legitimate posts from unregistered users in this subforum, I repeat none. So I really don't understand why we don't simply disable posting for non-regged users here. That seems to be the easiest solution.

The current situation is definitively pretty bad. As far as I see it, there are basically two ways for fixing it:
1) simply disable posting for unregistered users
2) emphasize even more in the forum description (and maybe somewhere else) that this subforum is not for aMule support. Tell them that they will not get aMule support if they post here and that their post will be deleted after some time (the second part is needed b/c otherwise this subforum will become unreadable). This policy will then have to be enforced so that other users should not provide support for these postings.

I guess (2) would be somewhat feasible but it would also be a much more tedious solution than simply doing (1). Given that, as I just said, nobody uses the ability to post as unregistered in a legitimate way, I really don't understand why we would not just disable posting as unregistered.
