Credits automatic???
« on: November 25, 2006, 07:00:26 PM »

i have read that the more credits you have the faster DL speeds you will get.  i started using amule for Mac 2 days ago.  i am sharing over 1200 files.  Its not a ridiculous amount of files but i think its a good amount.  does this mean i have 1200 credits or do i still have to build up and earn credits?

1200? Seems too much to me.

About credits: You gain credits by uploading files to other users. It doesn't matter whether you share thousands of files or just one. When you've uploaded to an user, you'll have credits and will advance faster in his queue.

Credits between 2 users...

The credits system on ed2k network is between 2 peers only.  This means the credits is between you and another peer and nobody else will know about it (or care for that matter).

So, if you're sharing file "fileA" and you uploaded a huge sum of it to user "peer01", you're gaining credits on that user only.  You'll benefit from this credit if you're downloading a file which "peer01" is uploading!  If you don't need anything from him/her, your credit is lost (after 14 days I think).

(On BitTorrent network, on the other hand, you do benefit from uploading to other peers even if you don't need any part (or pieces) from them as long as you all download the same ".torrent" file.)
