This makes sense. If no one is/was working on the GUI, no wonder it is so bad.

I have made the proposal upfront. Read the subject and the text again.
The fact that you like the present GUI does not mean that yours is
the only possible point of view. As a matter of fact, try Cabos, and
you will have answers to most of your questions. Its GUI is very well
designed. I understand that it is a mac application, but macs have
a well established reputation for good GUI design. Incidentally, by
having a clutter-free GUI, maintenance of aMule would be smoother,
the code itself would be to the point (less bugs), and port to platforms
other than linux (mac in my case) would have a better outcome.
It is a win-win situation, only if you are willing to step out from your
dogma and see things from another point of view. You might like it,
and realise that your former view was not as good as you thought.
For this to be possible, you need a flexible mind, of course.
