Use Amule to send a file justt to one friend?
« on: January 15, 2007, 03:50:48 AM »

If I want to send a large file to a friend, which is too big for email, can I use Amule to do it? I mean, can my friend and I just connect directly to each other?
Thank you
Justin

Yes you can. Although aMule uses an open network, but you can take same steps to make  a file private.

  • use file names no one would be searching for (e.g. "9F2ajnp")
  • use a password encrypted archive
This way no one would start to download this file because he found it via the search and even if someone should have downloaded the file he would still need the password.
Send your friend the ed2k-link and the password and aMule should do its job.

Thank you. And, what does "ed2k-link" mean?

http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/Ed2k_link

You can find the ed2k-link of a file by using alc/alcc or by right-clicking on the file in aMule's shared files tab and choose "copy ed2k link to clipboard" (or something like that).
