Hi All,
I have a MACBOOK (tiger 10.4.6 full upgraded) and amule last version.
Every time I open amule and it starts to download my internet connection drops. My connection is DSL 2MB/s.
This happen immediately when I download big file like .mpeg. it happen less often when i donwload a single small file

Any suggesions to fix this issue?

His provider is lucent, don't know whether they are filtering. (illinois/usa?)

In general this sounds like a router being overstrained by too many connections.

Try lowering your "max. connections" and "hard limit" values a bit.

I had already tried to limit the connection to 80 but did not work so I tried to go down to maximum 10 connecion and it works. My connection does not drop anymore

Anyway I called the my internet provider which is smart telecom ireland (lucent is the company where i work but I m having probs with the connection with smart telecom) and I explained that there is a problem with the p2p applications.
They told me to ask you what kind of service amule need to work well?

Can you please tell me what they can do to me in order to use several multiple connection at the time?
Please let me know as according with ISP forum there is several people having my same problem.,

Well, first we have to make sure that it can't be a problem on your side.

Do you own a router?/How [equipment] are you connecting to the internet?

AOLINK DR814 router

While googling I read bad things about this router. Seems like it is the routers fault. Please check whether it gets hot while running it with aMule. (The router is resetting/freezing due to overheating caused by too many connections. But usually this happens with (bad) routers and more than ~250 connections...seems hard to believe your router is _that_ bad)
Do you have an old dsl modem or other hardware at hand to test?

it does get hot. But as you said It should support about 200 connections.
In my case the router freeze event with 50 connectios, It work with 10 connections on otherwise... that's strange. Unfortunately I don't have an other dsl modem... Can try to find one if ths is the only way to check...we ll sse

I didn't try with a another router but I am just testing and observing my connection behavior.
To be prcise I have just noticed that my connection does not drop when amule opend the connections.

I set up the max source for file at 150 and the Connectionn limit (Max conneciotions to 200).
Whit this set up amule open all the connections and the connection does not drop.
The problem arise when one of the file in dolwnload windlow start to dowload data from source. If all the download are in status of Waiting every thing goes well. Than after some time the dowload stat the line drops down

What do you think? my impression that the problem is not down to the multiple connections.(?)
is that correct?
Any idea?

Your suspicion seems right. Are there any firmware updates for your router? I would still blame your router, would be great if you could get another (good) router/a modem to know this for sure.

I found a firmware upgarde for the router and I have downloaded.
this is file extention .img
Do you knwo how to install it?

Hi all,
the problem was down my AOLINK router. This is a crapy one because does not have a lot of mamory so when the number of conneciotions goes up to 200 the modem hang up instead drop the connections.
I have changed some setting in the router + upgraded fimware and with Amule set to 200 connections maximun seems to work.

Nice to hear it's finally working. Maybe you should think about spending some bucks for a better router, I'm a happy Linksys user (WRT54G+external modem) and can recommend them for their great alternative firmwares.
