connection problem, out of the blue
« on: January 24, 2007, 03:03:07 PM »

Hello y'all.

I've updated my mac os X tiger to the newest security update, released yesterday, which was ment to fix some minor stuff on quicktime.
I restart the mac and all is well. I connect my ipod shuffle, and sotlight stumbles upon it, weirdly.
After this, I launch amule, and ever since it can't connect anymore.
This is the log, that repeats attempt to connect, all failing.
Anybody know what the problem is?
What's that problem with spotlight in the log? Could it be linked to the problem I had with the Ipod shuffle?

Have the same problem. I also flashed my router's firmware yesterday and at first I thought that might have been the cause of the problem. However, when I boot to linux an run amule (from behind that same router) i connect without problems.

In Mac OSX, after installing the security update, any connection amule attempts to make seems to be blocked. No Kad, no ed2k server, not able to update serverlist, no nothin...

HELP!

Here's some more information on the update. I don't know enough about this stuff to see where the problem is but maybe someone else has a clue:

Security Update 2007-001

    *

      QuickTime

      CVE-ID: CVE-2007-0015

Available for: QuickTime 7.1.3 on Mac OS X v10.3.9, Mac OS X Server v10.3.9, Mac OS X v10.4.8, Mac OS X Server v10.4.8, Windows XP/2000

Impact: Visiting malicious websites may lead to arbitrary code execution

Description: A buffer overflow exists in QuickTime's handling of RTSP URLs. By enticing a user to access a maliciously-crafted RTSP URL, an attacker can trigger the buffer overflow, which may lead to arbitrary code execution. A QTL file that triggers this issue has been published on the Month of Apple Bugs web site (MOAB-01-01-2007). This update addresses the issue by performing additional validation of RTSP URLs.

I found another topic addressing the problem, possibly, and indeed I've changed the name of my mac.

http://forum.amule.org/thread.php?threadid=9753&sid=

Unfortunately, the solution proposed didn't work for me, and I couldn't replicate the other proposed solutions.
Any help from anyone?
