Newbie / Extract Preview at Least
« on: February 24, 2007, 08:38:00 AM »

Hi guys,

I am new to the Amule and to this forum. This is my very first post. Just a Newbie question. I have downloaded 75 % of a music album and now there aren“t more sources. How can at least recover those 75% in mp3 tunes with preview. Preview only let me see movies, not mp3 as files. I used to have Emule in the PC and when I gave it preview to a music album which sources disappeared I could see and download some of the tunes. Maybe is a configuration issue. If anybody has an idea, please let me know.

I have an Imac Intel.

Best,
Sebastiao

Hi Sebastiao!

What's the file format of the album? If it's the whole album in one MP3-File, then right-click (hold down CTRL while clicking on Mac) the file in the transfers list and see which is the correspondending part-file number.
Open this file (see preferences-directories-Temporary Directory for the path) in any MP3-Editor like Audacity and see what you can do.

If it's an archive things will get a bit harder. First copy the .part-file and rename it to something more fitting, e.g. album.zip or album.rar
I don't know about extracting broken archives on Mac,  but there's a switch to extract incomplete files for the Linux unrar binary.

Hope this brings you a bit further.

Regards

Hi Wuischke,

Thanks for your very complete reply. Actually the file is Zipped Archive, it was not hard to do it with Emule, since it automatically associated with the Compression (ZIP or RAR utiltity) and in the preview mode you could see and recover all the Mp3 files completed with full access to them. I will try what you suggested with Amule and see what happens.

Thanks again and best,
Sebastiao
