Long live aMule :-)
« on: March 02, 2004, 03:27:39 AM »

Hello,
some things about the current aMule status:

1.
aMule development moved from SourceForge to BerliOS. SourceForge will not be updated anymore for now, so please use Berlios. The reason: we can not use SF anymore due to a takeover by one admin (anyway, SF was too slow for us)... The "admin" is gone now and we do our best. :)

2.
The official aMule irc network is now irc.freenode.net. The channel is #aMule

3.
You can reach us under the following domains:
http://www.amule.org
http://www.amule-project.net
http://www.amule-project.de
http://amule.slackware-community.de
http://amule.net.tc/

4.
A new website is on the way

5.
And the thing everyone is waiting for - a new version of aMule - will be up soon too. Maybe a release candidate of 2.0 will be out before the real release, so we can start testing it.

thx & greets

the aMule team

De ja vu ... aMule dev removed Un-Thesis from LMule two weeks ago :o

It seems like de ja vu to me at any rate.
First, your developer removes Un-Thesis from LMule totally unprovoked and with no discussion.  Then you flame the SF support ticket.

Then one of your devs gets mad at you and tries to take over the project.

Karmic redistribution any one?

1) Madcat removed you from lmule. It's totally unrelated to aMule, and he has good reasons for it anyway. you're claiming everywhere xMule is not a fork of lmule, and it is, so the lmule developers (ask pure and bedboi about it too) maybe rdecided to remove you before you did more harm.

2) The dev didn't got mad at team, but the team got mad at the dev. So he tried to take over the project before he was removed, in a very stupid and childish way. He also tried to take over the domains, that was why http://www.amule.org and forum.amule.org were unavailable last week.

3) You should keep managing your project and don't flame on aMule managing stuff. A good thing to do on your project its to credit the > 100Kb diff of code taken from aMule on files and changelogs, instead of claiming aMule copies xMule (not a single xMule code bit on it for months, and all those taken before were credited). So stop lying to users, it's a good start. Also, we had to add a chanserv on the amule channel on freenode because you were entering and changing topic to insults while we were away. And all that stuff we all know you do.

Once again, LEAVE US ALONE.

You understood well, althought we would love not to say names. No need to specify who it was or what he did (that was more than the SF stuff).

I won't edit your posts but PLEASE remove the names ok? ;)

I ve been tracking the development of emule for linux, but i cant figure out the connection of ShareDeamon and aMule; i see that MadCat is in both and that they were formed about the same time, from the split from xMule, but thats it.

I see that the biggest goal for aMule now is multiplatform, but you also talked about gui/core separation, which is ShareDeamons goal.

Are they to be competitors?

ShareDaemon and aMule will NEVER be competitors, as we're good friends.

We  just .. share the market :)
