server UDP port always TCP+3? FAQ says otherwise
« on: April 29, 2007, 05:57:53 PM »

Hi,

Why is it that the FAQ says I should be able to change all the ports, but in fact the server UDP port always chooses to be the TCP client port + 3? This is a really, really, really, reall,y really, really, really, really, really stupid way to do it, and a really, really, really, really, really, really, really excellent surprising way to piss people off.

Your app has some other problems that are rather odd, but this one takes the cake.

Why, if you are going to tie the UDP number to the TCP number, why oh why oh why oh why not simply choose the SAME number? Why, ffs, do you choose to put the UDP on TCP+3?

But in fact, why ffs don't you just let us choose this port number just the same as you let choose the others?!!!!!!!

INSANE. I conclude you are helping the people who spy on your users.

Hi potato

Please fill a feature request at http://bugs.amule.org if you think this should be changed.

About the why: most probably for simplicity reasons. This has been this way since xmule times and maybe even earlier.

And please don't draw conclusions which make clear you don't understand what you're talking about. This will make you look like a fool.

.. you know, your post was somehow sensible, even if violent and disrespectful, but this sentence just got on my nerves. You think so, fuck off and use any other program, you worthless piece of shit.

And you have a warning.
