Basic Stuff ... Sorry Guys.
« on: May 16, 2007, 10:23:54 PM »

Hey everyone. Noob to the max here, so be gentle.

I've been using ed2k for ages now, on an up-to-date Mac with OS X, however it's been letting me down lately (searches won't work, et cetera) so I thought I'd get with the times and get on aMule. With Overnet dead, the ed2k program seems a bit of a waste.

ANYWAY, unfortunately I find myself facing many similar problems that drove me away from ed2k. I am using a firewall/router, however I have two sets of TCP/UDP ports that I manually opened and alternate between from time to time (45332/47332 and 5332/7332). Yet, for some reason, I still get the same Low ID bullshit even though I'm 100% certain these ports are open. Please note that I am using a non-static IP, however I adjust the ports whenever my IP is changed (these changes occur once every weekish). The bottom line is that both the ed2k network and Kad network are struggling and I don't kno why!

Thanks for the help ahead of time.

P.S. I read in the FAQ there is an actual OS X forum, but the link didn't work. Is it gone now?

P.P.S. got onto DonkeryServer no. 2 just fine. Are these servers generally so tempermentle? I've timed out more times than I can count. Either way, she's looking good so far, though I'm afraid I have a long, technical jargon-filled adventure ahead of me to learn all the quirks of the program. That's the fun of it though, eh?
