question about history
« on: June 05, 2007, 11:01:23 PM »

Hello everyone,
First of all let me thank all those working on the amule project. I've been now using it for some time and it works just fine.
My question:
I've unfortunately shreded a downloaded file that can't be find that easily. I was wondering since amule knows when I have already downloaded a file is there anyway, knowing some key words of the file, to find the ed2k link or perhaps the exact file name? is this info stored in some sort of file?

Thanks in advance

If you search and find a file that amule has already downloaded, it will be highlighted in your search results, provided you have not erased your known.met file.

Thank you for your reply skolnick.
The problem is that I can't find the file with amule's search function. I need to get the ed2k link but I can't view the known.met file. What editor to you use to view the content of the .met file?

Thanks again

There is no such viewer. I made one, but it's written in java. If you want it anyway, I can give it to you.

Thank you for answer skolnick. I tried to track the link but still no success.
If it isn't to much work, it would be very helpfull to use your java viewer to find the link.

Regards,

Fred

Hi!

Sorry, just as I foretold, I forgot :(. Attached you will find the jar file of my software, run it like this:

Code: [Select]
java -jar javaMet.jar
it will display the contents of a server.met, known.met or part.met file. It will not let you modify anything, just show.

Hope it helps. If you have any difficult time with it, please PM me, since this software is pretty offtopic here.

Regards.

Edit: I had to change the extension of the file to .zip, just change it back to .jar and use it as I explained to you.

Thanks skolnick for posting your software.
I tried right away and had a problem viewing the content.
I go under know.met, opent "know.met" file and the terminal shows me hash codes and also this:
INFO: This should have never happened! b_tagType=90   //sometimes 90 or 103, 115, 123  or someting else.
Anyway when loading is finished I don't see any content
/.aMule/known.met
Header = empty field
Number of items = empty field
Know Files = empty field

Anything I could have overseen?

thank in advance

[edit]
tried to open a server.met and a part.met file and it worked right away

Sorry, it seems to be a bug in my software...you see, it's not finished as you can see. Sorry, I though it would be useful for you, but it seems not :( Did you try looking through all the messages it throws to console? there are lots of debug messages, and IIRC, it throws also the name of the files it finds in the known.met file.

You can help me improve the software. If you want, please send me (maybe attach it here) the known.met file that produced this error, so I can correct the bug. Compress it in winzip first, so the forum lets you attach the file.

Regards.

Hi,
I saved the terminal ouput and made a .zip file with the know.met file + terminal output. If there's anything else I can do just let me know.
Thanks

Thanks, I'll take a look at it.

Regards.

Edit: There was no known.met file, just the console output. Maybe you forgot to add it?

Hi!

I tested your file and found (and possibly fixed) the bug that happened to you. Please test this new version of the software, and tell me if it suits to your needs.

Regards.
