aMule very slow / Maybe Servers???
« on: October 04, 2007, 01:13:20 AM »

Hi people,

I just read that in September many of the traditional servers went down and it was better to use Kad and disconnect ED2K. Is that right?

I used to download very fast from 60 to 90 Kb/seg and upload at 15 Kb/seg. Now the maximum speed never goes faster than 20 Kb/seg. I increased the upload to 60 Kb/seg maybe to change the return relation between upload and downloads, but it does still keeps the same.

I have reseted my router, changed the ports, but nothing seems to fix that. I use Mac Os X and iMac Intel which is fairly fast.  I read that maybe my ISP maybe slowing down aMule, but I don´t know if that is possible or is more of an international server malfuction.

Any ideas? should I disconnect ed2K and connect only to Kad?

Thanks a lot
Sebastiao

Hi Sebastiao,

Your Internet Service Provider is probably filtering your p2p traffic. If you use the current CVS code, you can try to enable "protocol obfuscation" to see if it helps.

Hi Phoenix,

Thanks for your reply. I am reading the link you sent me. I don´t too much about technical issues but is this another type of aMule? Should I install this Intel aMule on my prior aMule without any complication?
Sorry to ask too much, but kind of newbie in tech subjects.

Thanks again,
Sebastiao

Hi,

I don't understand much about Mac, but in this link I gave you there is a link to a recent CVS aMule Mac binary. Maybe someone with more Mac knowledge than I could give you some advise.

Cheers!

In preferences -> security. Check the "enable protocol obnfuscation" checkbox.

Hi skolnick,

Thanks for the advice. I am noticing now that in Preferences>Security> "Support Protocol Ofuscation" and "Use ofuscation for outgoing connections" are enable by default. Should I also check "Accept only ofuscated connections" as well?

Thanks again,
Sebastiao
