I am new to amule!

I am running amule

on debian etch, and everything went well for some time. Than after some time, maybe 30' or an hour, it blcks everything (not only amule, but the whole computer, no mouseclick, no ctrl-alt-canc either) and i must reboot.
I supposed an excess in connections, and turned to a lower bandwith (from down 1500/up 1000 to 100/100) but nothing good. KAd connects well to many nodes, so I disconnected it, but nothing ...

I am running amule on a linux client that connects to an ADSL/router in a local LAN.

excuse my ignorance, but can somebody help? Thanks
