securing amule
« on: April 26, 2008, 01:16:04 PM »

Hello,
i have not found very much in this forum to this important topic in my opinion. If you allready talked about this things please excuse me.
First thing: I have read that there are a lot of fake servers. What i know i can do two things: 1. Chose the right server.met and 2. set a filter.

To 1.: What is the right server.met? Or better: What is a good tip? I have chosen now the one from www.server-met.de. Is this ok? I also heared, that best is to choose manually to what server i connect. What Servers are a good choice? DonkeyServer No1-6? How can i know what servers are a good choice?

To 2.: How do i do this in amule? I found the setting for ip-filter, but i think there must stand something in the field "url"? What must i set there and what exactly does a ip-filter?

Thanks
Wolfi

Just use Kad only if you are concerned about fake servers. Mind: you never know who is running the server, what data he is logging and what he is going to do with it.
