Simplify the GUI!
« on: June 14, 2008, 11:40:43 AM »

I want to make some suggestions so that the GUI does not look so cluttered. I don't think that anyone will agree, but I will try

Preferences Tab:
* General
         a) If Tray Icon is not compiled in (like in a mac) remove the corresponding options.
         b) In the Browser selection remove the drop down menu. Just allow to input the path to the browser. If empty, assume system default.
         c) Replace Tooltip Delay time with "Show ToolTips". It is better if you send this to the "Gui Tweaks tab".

* Connection Tab:
         a) Move the "Line Capacities" subsection to the "Statistics tab"

* Statistics Tab:
         a) Remove "Select Statistics Colors" (make it part of a skin some time in the future).

* Gui Tweaks:
          a) Remove Show progress bar and Progressbar style. Keep the default and allow changes in amule.conf or through skins.
          b) Remove Vertical toolbar orientation (if you cannot change the orientation with the mouse, then leave it)
          c) Remove the "Show part file number before file name" and instead create a new column in the downloads tab for this number. Then it can  be removed graphically (right click on the bar).
          d) Merge Column sorting and Show percentage under "Misc Gui Tweaks"
    This way the Gui tweaks will have one section for skin support and another with Misc Gui Tweeks with 5 items

* Core Tweaks: abolish this tab if it is not mean to be modified regularly. Instead people can edit amule.conf by hand (if they absolutely have to!)

I was never an advocate of removing options.

I think this is a good idea.

I don't mean I oppose all of it, just the part where we remove options. That change is not a option removal, just moving the option elsewhere.
