Rename complete File not possible...
« on: July 27, 2008, 03:17:34 AM »

Hi,
i know, there is yet a thread about it, but it's very old...

The problem is: i can't rename a (complete) file, from shared files...this is a problem, because if i rename it from File Browser (ubuntu),
aMule must re-hash the file... :/

Is there the possibility to fix it?

This is not a bug. It's more like a feature request. I moved the thread where it belongs.

Regards.

Why don't you rename it while it is downloading ?
You have a point, but I don't think it's worth the effort.

Renaming of completed files has been intentionally disables, because it caused problems with Kad. I might take another look at it...

This would be great!

...the problem is: If our Crew releases a File when i'm not at home, i put it in my incoming folder some hours before...with other name, to avoid link searchers to find it before official release start...

...when i come back after some hour i must change the name of the file, and then it hashes it another time, a bit shiddy, the files have usually 4 GB... :/

Usually not a good idea to rename known files. Ther eis code for it, but disabled, for the notes that it has there, Stu.

I might take another look at it...
Just made a tracker item so it doesn't slip off the table again. We should either enable it, or disable it properly, saying so and removing the disabled code and the menu entry.

No. It's there till someone does a proper case study about it.

That's exactly what I'm saying, and what I made the entry for.  :)

Somehow I got a sense of immediatness from your post, which didn't go well with the usual laid back attitude of this project.

I like it though.  ;)
I think the tracker is just what's meant for non-immedeate issues. Immedeate ones are when you dig into the code right away.
