FreeBSD port of aMule 2.2.3 - first try - please test
« on: December 30, 2008, 01:44:34 PM »

Hello,

I didn't find any better place to post this, I hope it is ok. A FreeBSD port is not a binary, it is source.

I have created a FreeBSD port of aMule 2.2.3 (I updated the old port of aMule 2.1.3). The port archive can be downloaded here: amule.2.2.3-1.tgz. You need to have an updated ports tree installed on your FreeBSD machine.
Simply cd to /usr/ports/net-p2p and untar the archive, it will create the amule2 directory and files within. Note:  if you wish to keep the old amule2 directory, please rename it or move it elsewhere before untar'ing the archive.

So far I have tested the port on FreeBSD 7.1-prerelease / amd64 and FreeBSD 6.4-stable / amd64 with default options, and it installs and runs fine.

But it needs more testing. Please test and report any problems.

Thanks for the port!
Compiles fine on PC-BSD 7.0.2. However, it was mostly useless, since there's no "make config" option for "--enable-amule-gui".
Would be nice if you'd add this option in the future.

P.S. I noticed that "make deinstall" missed some files. In particular: /usr/local/share/doc/aMule-2.2.3/

What about posting a PR requesting the update of the official port?

Well, it took some time, but I finally made an update to the official port, see http://www.freshports.org/net-p2p/amule2/
And on March 22nd it was committed.
