aMule v2.2.1 freezes (hogs CPU) and crashes...
« on: February 02, 2009, 12:33:26 AM »

Hello.

I started using aMule again over the weekend, and noticed it freezes and hogs CPU for a bit and then crashes after a while (an hour or more I think). Here is what I saw when I ran amule from KDE v3.5.10's Terminal:

$ amule -v

I never had these problems before. Any ideas what's going on?

Thank you in advance. :)

 aMule is a peer-to-peer file sharing application, designed to connect

 including many of the original eMule client, like:
 .
  * online signature, source exchange, compressed transfers, secure

  * boolean search, which can be local, global, or in the Kad network
  * checks against aggressive clients
  * slot allocation, to decide the number of remote clients
  * systray works well both in GNOME and KDE

Thanks. I wonder if it is safe to use these experimental ones.

Sure safer than using aMule 2.2.1.  ;D
OK, I upgraded them:

# dpkg --install amule_2.2.3-1_i386.deb  amule-common_2.2.3-1_all.deb
(Reading database ... 156312 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace amule 2.2.3-1 (using amule_2.2.3-1_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement amule ...
Preparing to replace amule-common 2.2.1-1 (using amule-common_2.2.3-1_all.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement amule-common ...
Setting up amule-common (2.2.3-1) ...
Setting up amule (2.2.3-1) ...
Processing triggers for menu ...
Processing triggers for man-db ...

However, I am not at the computer to run and test it due to lack of X display. I only upgraded the packages via a SSH connection. :)

I get that error message when my wireless link goes down but aMule never crashes. When the link becomes ready it gets some CPU and reconnect to clients (ED2K disabled by config).
