unable to upgrade
« on: May 14, 2009, 10:03:16 AM »

I am a total n00b when it comes to using aMule so please bear with me.

First of all I am on Leopard 10.5.6 PPC Powerbook G4 1.25

A few days ago I decided to bite the bullet and downloaded Xabaras' build - aMule-2.2.4-mac-ppc-20090422
And it worked! It's sucking my CPU dry but... it works.

Then yesterday I found out about the new updated build and downloaded that one hoping that perhaps that would solve my CPU issue. The build I downloaded was PPC version for Tiger or Leopard MacMule-2.2.4-b02-PPC-MacFactory by Mirko G.
I trashed the old aMule and aMuleGUI and replaced them with the new build.

And it won't launch. Every single time it crashes right away and I am wondering what is it that I am doing wrong? Was I supposed to get rid of some other specific file belonging to the old build? Anyways, after that I decided to bring back to life the old build from the trash and it works just fine.

The second question is really regarding that CPU issue. Now I realize that I own a beautiful (if somewhat old  :P) PB G4 and it's not exactly the most powerful machine out there, but to have it constantly between 50-97% is a bit too much for me. I really believed that Azureus was a monster but it appears to be just an innocent puppy compared to aMule  ::) I also realize it has to do mostly with my settings and one always wonders how to make everyone happy. With BT it's quite easy since I am on a pretty good connection (20mb optic), but with amule... the more I am trying to give the more my baby is suffering  ;D.

Here are my settings if anyone would be so kind...

I know it says you should assign like 70-80% of the upload... but I really want to use my comp for the next few years so...

Bandwidth limits:
Download: 0kB
Upload: 1000kB
Slot Allocation: 50kB

Max Sources per File

Hard Limit: 2000

Connection Limits
Max Connections: 200

I am sharing 146 files (74 GB) and 99%of them are between 350-700 MB in size.
I have no issues with port forwarding (HighID)

Something is wrong in my build,
binary don't link to correct libraries.

I'm going to resolv...

EDIT:
I cannot quickly resolv the problem.
Please be patient.

;DNo worries, if it weren't for the kindness of people who make it easy for those of us who don't know s... about compiling I would never be able to try this thing. So yeah, please take your time!  We'll be waiting patiently :)
