How do I  "mark" a completed file that has been downloaded as "completed" for the purpose of having it appear as available in the searches window as part of a search result?

That happens automatically (if you didnt change the location)
I guess you have tried to find your own file in a search?
Even if it has been donwloaded by loads of people,
the file will not always show up in searches.

Hello again RRM and thanks for your reply. The answer to question #5 on the aMule FAQ webpage (http://wiki.amule.org/index.php/FAQ_aMule) indicates that you actually have to do something (i.e., "mark" the file "completed"). I value your opinion/advice but what does the aforementioned webpage  answer mean? Hope to hear from you again on this matter.

P.S. No, I wasn't attempting to search for one of my files. The reason I ask about "marking" completed files is that I am currently trying to complete several files and in attempting to ascertain if there are any complete files "out there",  I've often found search results to be unreliable and confusing. If I can make life easier for some other downloader by "marking" MY completed files, then I will do it; that is why I posted this query to begin with.

Hi jazzmaniac,

there's nothing you have to do to have a file marked complete, aMule will take care of this automatically.

A good indicator of file completeness is the colour of the progress meter in the transfer view. If there any red parts, then no one has this part of the file. Blue indicates some people having this part of the file, the darker the blue the more people have this part of the file.

If you have files with few sources and some red patches, it might not be completely available anymore. You may try waiting for other people to go online, who might have this part of the file or try another file.

Thanks for your reply wuischke. Do you know what the aMule FAQ webpage (please see reply #2 above for link/web address) means when it indicates you should "mark" your files "completed" (to generate more accurate search results)?

I am familiar with the colored progress bar/graph. It is not the issue. I guess the issue I'm addressing is reliability/accuracy of source search results. Nice to hear from you. Any further insight you have to offer will be greatly appreciated.

When that answer says "clients" it actually talks about the program itself - aMule, eMule, mldonkey, whichever it is. Some clients like at least aMule and eMule that I know of use a special flag when publishing the files to the servers/kad that means that the file being shared is complete (as opposed to files shared while downloading, when they are not yet complete). This, in turn, means that when you search for a file, you can see the amount of people whose program has published that the file is complete. A "0" value in the complete sources when searching just means that no client program has said that the file is complete - but it doesn't mean that none of the sources have it complete, as submitting that information is not mandatory for the network (and some programs don't do it).

Does that make more sense? You really don't have to do anything, you are using aMule, so your complete files are marked as complete in the network automatically by the program.

the issue I'm addressing is reliability/accuracy of source search results.

Right click on the file you want to investigate > Show File Details
and you will see a list of all the names that this file bears.
If that list contains various, very different  names,
its probably not what you are looking for.
