Can someone please explain why it is that on some particular servers you will get a LowID warning message EVEN IF YOU HAVE CORRECTLY FORWARDED  THE APPROPRIATE PORTS? ALSO, I recently connected with a particular server and received a message that not all of my "shares" would be recognized; what does this mean?

It means probably that the server is crap. Read the FAQ how to get a good server list, or switch to KAD only.
(BtW: WRITING A WHOLE SENTENCE IN CAPS is regarded as impolite "shouting". If you want to stress something use italicized text.)

Stu, thanks for responding and for the etiquette tip. The servers I alluded to are supposedly reputable as they were compiled in accordance with the guidelines of the reference article (FAQ) to which you referred me. Therefor, I was quite surprised when I was advised of my LowID status. Any further comments? Regards.

What is your KAD status? What is the result of the port test?

Hello again Stu. Kad is connected and port test verified that TCP port is available and that I am good to go. Thanks for following up!

Hi I'm new to the forum.

Experiencing similar problem.

Running 2.2.5 on a OSX Leopard.

I only have  eDonkeyServer No2 (212.63.206.35:4242) in the server list because I think it is the best one (i've been using it since ages).
Lately (4-5 months) i am facing difficulties in connecting to the server (7 times out of 10 I get the message "connection lost") and I always get the KAD firewalled. Needless to say I opened all 3 needed ports: TCP, UDP and UDP (TCP+3).

I have a couple of questions:

- the 4 numbers after the IP address of the server (4242) have anything to do with the ports I have to open in the router and I have to set in Amule?
- is it normal that even if I open all the ports, the TCP/UDP connection tester (http://www.amule.org/testport.php) tells me that only the tcp is open?... when I test the UDP ports it says they're closed. Maybe this is normal because although the name of the page says TCP/UDP I only read about TCP in the text of the page.... confused...
- should I download a new nodes file/address? right now I have an average of nodes between 500 and 800... and yes I already pushed the bootstrap button while downloading a file with lots of sources...

Please help.

Luca

1) No.
2) Well, this connection tester only tests the TCP port. The headline is wrong.  :P
3) If Kad is connected but firewalled, a new nodes.dat won't help.

Try different (like 7xxx) ports for TCP and UDP (and forward them in your router). Maybe your ISP is blocking them.

Hi Stu

thanks for the quick response.

I already have very high ports both for TCP and UDP (2xxxx)... do you think changing them to a lower number (like the one you suggested) might really change the situation?

Futhermore, I have another question: if I click the "network" tab and then select "Kad" instead of "ed2k" and then "kad information" (might be differently tanslated, I use the italian version) I of course read that the "connection status" is "firewalled" but I also read, under "firewalled status", that I have "no friends"... now, besides being particularly sad  ;D, could this be the cause of the problem?? It seems to me that I read something about it like years ago when I was still using Windows and Emule...

Thanks!

In this case, no. I thought you were using standard ports.

No. Question is rather, why are you firewalled in the first place? Probably your TCP port forwarding works, but UDP forwarding doesn't.
