Dear aMule Experts in the Forum,

Hello and Happy Good Friday!

Recently i am encountering a Strange problem.

First, many of my downloading files will gone disappear.
The files are not completed yet, but they just gone Disappear in my Transfer list.

Second, many files that i added to my Download, they will not added to my list after i restart my aMule.

i wonder is this a Virus or Bugs that i am encountering? i am using aMule 2.2.6 with Mac OS X snow leopard.
I did not try to change the settings manually as i am not so expert in these.

But i do set the Incoming and Temporary Directories to my External HDD. Is this the cause of all my problems?

Sounds like the file system on your external hdd is corrupt and the files are getting lost. Did you run a file system check on it?

I think there is something wrong with my External HDD as well. I was trying to open this HDD on my Windows, it says that it is Corrupted and request for re-format.
i just ignored it.

How can i run a file system check on it? Will this procedure fix my "corrupted" external HDD?

"Stu" will do fine, we're on colloquial basis here. 

I don't have a Mac. A quick googling turned up a disc utility that looks like what you could use. If you can't get it checked, try to copy important data from it (and check if it is ok), then format it.
Mind, a damaged file system could also be caused by a hardware problem. Then it's time to throw the drive out...

I think that External HDD of mine is having some problem....

This is the result that i get after i run the Disk utility in Mac.


What i plan to do now, is to copy the whole HDD's files into another HDD.
Do you think i will be able to resume my un-finished download files with the new HDD?

Just Stu, not "Mr. Stu". 

Your HD has a Windows NTFS file system. (USB HDs usually come preformatted with NTFS nowadays.) I don't know how good NTFS support on Mac is, but you probably better use a Mac file system in the future.

You probably can continue your downloads on a new HD fine. If data is corrupt it will be noticed and redownloaded.

Dear Stu,

i dont know why this always happen to me.

Okay i am storing my Temp folder in an external HDD, while the incoming Folder remain in my computer.

It was still running smoothly 2 days ago, but just when i restart my aMule, the same problem happen again.
I am sure it is not due to damaged HDD or corrupted HDD, this is a brand new 1TB external HDD i bought.

Can you suggest me what is happening? is using external HDD to store my TEMP folder is a Bad idea?

Ah, okay...
What's happening is that aMule can't use the temp folder on your external disk and switches back to the default folder (where no files are located at the moment).
The reason is, aMule needs read/write permissions for the temp folder and doesn't get them.  I can't say how to change permissions on a Mac. Best Idea is probably: create a whole new directory on your external disc (starting from root dir), copy all your tempfiles over and use that.
For more questions regarding file owner/permissions on Mac, either ask in the Mac board or in some Mac forum. (Or some Mac user picks this up...)

Great, now i encounter another problem. i wonder why i had so much aMule problem and crashes in the last 3 months.....
oh God. Please help me. It was force close after i launch the application.

I suspect this is due to i added an ed2k link which causing the problem.

I also recall that if i want to fix this error ed2k link problem, i need to delete something from the Application Support>aMule Folder.
Can you show me how i can fix this problem, or any other information you need me to provide.

And I may be the one who answers your questions at the moment, but this is a public board, and starting a post with "Dear Stu" may put others off that might be able to help you even better. I do not read on at least if a post starts with Dear someone else.

Mac crash reports: don't post the "Binary Images:" part, it is useless.

See here how to get away from this crash. It is caused by a link with a '/' in the file name. Bug is fixed in SVN.

Oh and please send me a personal message with the link. I am curious what it is. The bug seems to plague only mac users although it is platform independent.
