Low IDed / Firewalled OSX 4.11 aMule 2.2.5
« on: October 20, 2010, 07:17:32 AM »

OK, not a new topic; aMule perennial topic.  I have a old G4 (PPC) running Tiger 10.4.11.  I first downloaded aMule 2.2.5 from Source Forge as a self installing package, which is the same file that links to download menu on this page.

I've read Wiki and browsed the forums and haven't found anything to that helps.  My router is old, doesn't support NAT and is currently out of the system.   My computer is connected directly to a VoIP box and then to a DSL modem.  The Tiger firewall is set to open ports TCP 4661, 4662, 4663  UDP 4664, 4685 also  TCP 9870, 9871 UDP 9873 and TCP 50000 for UPnp.

These sample sections of log file may tell something -

Code: [Select]
*** TCP socket (ECServer) listening on 0.0.0.0:4712
Created Server UDP-Socket at port 4665
Created Client UDP-Socket at port 4672

Universal Plug and Play: UPnP Error: CUPnPControlPoint::AddPortMapping: WAN Service not detected.
Error: Could not unlock mutex (error 0: Unknown error: 0)

My computer is connected directly to a VoIP box and then to a DSL modem.
What do you mean with that? Is the "VoIP box" a router, or how is the connection established?

You also have to open port 4672.

If it doesn't help you can turn of the firewall and see whether it works without it. If yes: the firewall is causing the trouble.

Thanks for moving this into the right forum.

Stu-

VoIP is Voice over Internet Protocol.  It's  from one of the big name free long distance phone services. No difference  if it's in line or out.

Marcel-

I didn't show it but UDP 4671 & 4672 are open.

Norton's connection chart shows TCP 4661 connected, TCP 4662 ( my initial setting ) as listening.  The OSX firewall is set to off.  I have tried other port numbers, especially those that appear to work foe other clients.

What now?  Try a reinstall?  And how do I uninstall?

Have you tried the port test lately?
Do you have a router with a firewall that may be blocking the ports?

No router connected.  VoIP box disconected.   Port Test returns:

 TCP Error 110 Connection refused

for every number I've tried.

Could these lines in the log mean anything?

Universal Plug and Play: UPnP Error: CUPnPControlPoint::AddPortMapping: WAN Service not detected.
Error: Could not unlock mutex (error 0: Unknown error: 0)

Also a strange thing happened a couple of weeks ago.  I had left aMule running over night.  The lower left said " connection lost".  Kad still firewalled, but I was still uploading And downloading.  This hasn't happened again.

Sill confused!
