Easy to use search interface

Hello,

It would be great have a more easy to use interface. I'm thinking on search:


For example:
- I pick movie, spanish, dvd and I type "Some Free Movie". This should be translated in this search:
SomeFreeMovie dvdrip, avi or mpg file, size between 600mb and 2000mb, then filter by (spanish or español or castellano).
- I pick song and type "Some Free Song" (no language combo needed here). This is translated as:
"Some Free Song", mp3 or ogg file, less than 20mb size.

Another idea is to show tips while you are writing the title:

Checking imdb or something similar.

Imagine the search results you get when searching for something.

How do you want to distinguish between a movie and a TV series or Spanish and English content?

Nowadays, when I want to search something in Spanish I have to search:
    1. "want i want spanish"
    2. if 1 fails, "want i want español"
    3. if 1 and 2 fail, "want i want castellano"
    4. ..., "want i want spa"
    5. ..., "want i want esp"

This is a lot of work. I would be easy just type "want i want" and select "spanish" in a combo. Then amule search like i told before.

It requires some heuristic, and it needs to be think and defined but I think it can work.

Back to topic. David. Why are you searching first Espanol and then esp, and first spanish and then spa? The second one conains the first one, so I would would first try the shorter terms and change them only if there are too many results. In fact I would start with "spa" which ist in spa, in e"spa"niol" and "spa"nish, so you have 3 in 1 and only if they don't bring results, I would just omit any specification, as it seems there are that less results, that you have to take the english one anyway.

There's already "easy to use search interface" - it's called "Google". You can even specify in which language return results!

Using "spa" in fist term would show many false positive results, and then I have to repeat with "spanish". Anyway, it is just an example.
Of course I can search anything I want with the current gui, but I think if could be easy.
Not every body knows that a movie is 700mb, or a song is about 5 mb. So many people search a film and start to download a 200mb file, probably porn...
Imagine you have to tell your 85 years old grandmother: "write down the title of the movie, choose global search, click extended options and choose, select video in file type combo, click start, wait for a while, order by sources, and pick the fist one that have about 700mb size and it's in spanish and don't have the word "screener" in the title".

oh, i forgot it. Maybe we could put all the p2p software in the garbage since we have direct donwload   ::)

Lol. Maybe some things are simply not meant for 85 years old grandmothers. Or people who have no idea about common file sizes.

1) If all the above fails you will still search for "qué quiero", probably.
2) If the first rule returns results, how should aMule decide whether it is what you wanted or should it continue searching by the next rule?
3) Are you willing to fill the rule database with rules for at least the 40 most used languages?

I thing just searching for "what i want" and then filtering the results for "spanish" or "español" or whatever might give you better results.

Exactly! Use the filter to narrow down the search results. Also you can use the advanced search options to search for files in a specific range of file size!
